AAVSO Membership

Membership in the AAVSO is open to anyone over the age of 16 who is interested in variable stars and in contributing to the support of valuable research. It is not required to be a member of the AAVSO to submit your observations to the AAVSO International Database. However, observers can make a contribution to the Association and the field of variable star astronomy by joining. AAVSO members also receive a wide variety of benefits.

We are currently offering a Special Introductory Rate for Annual Adult and Junior membership. These rates are offered for the first three years of membership only, after which the prices will return to the regular membership rates.

Special Introductory Rate:

• US$25.00 for Annual members age 21 and over
• US$15.00 for Junior members age 16 through 20 (individuals under 16 are not eligible to become members, although their observations are welcome)
• US$100.00 for Sustaining members. ("sustaining" members make an additional contribution to the work of the association by paying higher dues)

Regular Dues are:

• US$50.00 for Annual members age 21 and over
• US$25.00 for Junior members age 16 through 20 (individuals under 16 are not eligible to become members, although their observations are welcome)
• US$100.00 for Sustaining members. ("sustaining" members make an additional contribution to the work of the association by paying higher dues)

Please note: There is also a one-time US$1.00 application fee.
